Grand Rapids Invite - December 18th
This race is different in that it has limited entries so not all skiers will be attending. High School athletes and a few Middle School athletes have been registered. Middle School students who are registered were talked with individually, so if your skier is in Middle School and the coaches haven't specifically told them that they are skiing, they won't be going to this race.
The bus will be leaving the High School at 7:30 a.m.

Craft Fair Parking -- Opportunity for $$
Good Morning Skiers and Ski Parents!
Even though it's hot out, there is a lot going on with Nordic Ski.
There will be a new Asst Coach helping us out this year...Greg Jamison who will be teaching Special Ed at the Middle School.
The rumors are true, we have been moved from our wax room. Our new room is smaller and our coaches are working to figure out how it's all going to come together. Don't fear! We are a hardy group that rarely receives the recognition that other sports get AND YET we continue to send athletes to State each year!
We have the opportunity to use the Maple Island Parking lot for fundraising during the Craft Fair. In the past we have used the money for rollerskis, Biwabik trips and concession money.
As budgets continue to tighten we need to look for ways to support our Nordic Ski Program. There's a waiting list for parking lots and this one is in a GREAT location. If there aren't enough volunteers to run it, we'll lose it to the next organization on the list... so if you can, please help out!
Volunteer Times:
Sat AM: 6-12 ( 2 hour shifts) 2 adults/4 kids per shift?
2 kids standing on main drag with sign to direct people to
us, 2 more at entrance to lot.
Adults to help with money and parking.
Sun AM : 7-12? Same staffing as Saturday
Please email hometeam1521@gmail.com or andreafoote@yahoo.com to sign up for a time.

Coach's Updates
Congrats to Gunner and Anna for finishing 1st and 2nd in their class at the Vasaloppet yesterday!
Looks like the Long Prairie Night time ski will
be this Friday night (always a fun event with great food and a campfire) at the
Faust trails and I also believe that the candlelite ski at Crane Meadows will
be Saturday night.
Finally, If anyone has waxless kid
skis in their bag please put them in the barrel in the ski room. Joe needs them for Friday's program and the Lincoln/Lindbergh Elementary School ski programs.

Section 8 Meet at Maplelag
Congratulations to all of the varsity skiers on a great section meet yesterday. Girls, section champs, will be going on to state next week as a team. Boys, section runners-up to Tech by only one point, will be sending three individuals to the state meet: Matt Massman, Hunter Zupko and Johnny Gottwalt. We're proud of all of you for representing Little Falls in DL yesterday.
Once again, the Brainerd Dispatch provided some nice coverage of the meet so check that out too, among the links below.
Skinnyski report: Crisp morning temperatures did little to slow down the action at the Section 8 championships held at Maplelag Resort on Tuesday. St. Cloud Tech edged out Little Falls by a single heart breaking point for the boys title. Tech's own Isaac Wieber took the boys individual title, with teammate Cory Rouw second and Brainerd's Noah Baker third. Little Falls girls held off a challenge from Mora to win the girls team title. Maria Hauer, Little Falls, dominated the individual race, winning by three minutes. Katie Williams, St. Cloud Tech, finished second and Jenna Truedson, Bemidji, was third. Full results posted and with photos (more coming later this week).

Note From The Coaches...
Dear
Parents of Nordic Skiers,
First
of all, we would like to thank you for all you do to help our athletes
participate in Nordic Skiing. We know it
takes a great deal of commitment by athletes and their parents to produce a
quality ski program. Thank you.
On
Monday Jan 20, 2014 we will host the Flyer Ripley Invitational at the Camp
Ripley’s Biathlon Range. We invite you
to join us for a great afternoon of ski racing.
Thirteen schools, with over 400 skiers will participate on one of the
finest courses in Minnesota. The
schedule for the day has the Boys Varsity race beginning at 10:00 followed by
the Girls Varsity races at 10:45. The JV
races will start around 11:30. The Jr
High races are Boys at 12:00 and Girls at 12:30. Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls will complete
the Pursuit Race at 1:30 and 2:15 respectively.
Awards program will follow.
To
put on a quality event takes a lot of good help. With the meet growing in size, it has become
more difficult covering all the needs.
We are asking for help in the following areas: bib collection, bib sorting, timing, start
area, and building clean-up. If you can
help in any of these areas we would be very appreciative. Of course we would not want you working while
your son or daughter is skiing (that Ãs the time for cheering), but if you
could help out at other times it will make things go much smoother. Some of the parents are also organizing a
concession stand so if you would like to get involved in that, contact Andrea
Foote.
If
you are available and willing, please contact Terry on his cell 320 232-0096 . We are excited about a great day and welcome
your involvement.
Drew,
Joe and Terry

Alexandria Meet CANCELLED
The Alexandria meet, scheduled for tomorrow has been
cancelled due to high winds and blizzard like conditions for some of the teams
that were scheduled to attend.
The plan for practice tonight is to go to F- range at
Ripley. Since there's no race tomorrow, there will be an early
practice on Saturday for Varsity and JV before the temps drop off the
charts. Since there's no school Monday, there will be no practice. Will keep you posted on Tuesday's meet at Mora.
