Post Ski Banquet, I'm finally getting out a recap of the state meet. Before that though, congratulations to all the skiers on a fantastic season! Really, it's the season that almost wasn't. Like Mattia said -- a late start, COVID restrictions, weather that was too cold and then too warm, not enough snow, and practicing skiing in circles at the golf course. Everyone who has skied prior to this season knows how strange it all was. Hopefully all the new skiers will come back for a normal <fingers crossed> season next year.
The state meet last week was warm and sunny. Girls skied Thursday; boys on Friday. Congratulations to all of the state meet qualifiers for all their achievements leading up to and at the state meet. Jackson's 4th place finish was the best finish in Little Falls Nordic Ski history, and one of the highest achievements of any Little Falls athlete regardless of sport.
Skinnyski's state meet recap included the photo and paragraph below:
Each State Meet brings great surprises and even in a pandemic format, there were still some great stories. Little Falls Jackson Grant (unranked) rocked the boys field with a stunning classic race, perhaps pressed on by his pairing with Colin Freed. Grant, who won only one conference race all season, put in the performance of his high school career taking fourth in the classic and following up with fifth best in the skate to finish in fourth place overall!

Finally, a couple of notes:
1. Watch for info coming soon on our 2nd Annual Brewskis for New Skis fundraiser. The first was a huge success and a lot of fun. We had to postpone the event last August but are planning for this summer. There are lots of ways to get involved and help! More to come.
2. The slideshow from the banquet is linked in the right sidebar under "Important Links" if you missed it or want to see it again.
