Year-End Ski Banquet

Our year-end Ski Banquet will be held Sunday Feb 21 at 5:00 PM at Grace Covenant Church on Riverwood Drive.  It will be a potluck meal and items are assigned by grade level:

Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores -  Main Dish
Freshmen and 8th grade girls -  Salad
Freshmen and 8th grade boys -  Dessert
6th and 7th graders -  Beverages (milk or juice).

See you all on Sunday at 5 PM.  Should be done by 7 PM.

State Meet Delayed Start / Charlie Banks Results

The MN State High School State meet being held at Giants Ridge tomorrow, February 11 will have a delayed start. The meet tomorrow will begin at 10:30 a.m. due to extreme cold temperatures. The originally scheduled start time was 10 a.m. The girls will be starting at 10:30 a.m. and the boys at 11:45 a.m. The pursuits will start as scheduled with the girls at 2 p.m. and the boys at 3 p.m.

State Meet Details

Wednesday - Charlie Banks Relay
4 x 3k Relay (2 legs classic, 2 legs skate)
Up to 40 teams participating
2 pm start time for boys
LF Team: Gunner, Brady, Colton Y, Cormac

Thursday - State  Competition
SkinnySki's Final High School Rankings have Hunter back in the top 10 and the Flyer girls on the cusp of the top 10!

SCHEDULE:
Girls' 5K Freestyle 10:00 a.m.
Boys' 5K Freestyle 11:15 p.m.
Girls' 5K Classical/Pursuit 2:00 p.m.
Boys' 5K Classical/Pursuit 3:00 p.m.

**As of early Tuesday afternoon, the weather forecast for Thursday morning was still quite chilly. If they delay, it would most likely be an hour delay (first racers going out at 11 am), and they would double up the starts (two skiers every 15 seconds). However, there will not be an official decision on this until Wednesday after the coaches meeting (4 pm).

Nordic Ski Updates

Hotel Rooms:
Waz has a few hotel rooms reserved at the Coates Plaza in Virginia for Wednesday night if anyone is planning on going up for the state meet.  Please contact him if you're interested.  If no one takes the rooms by Monday night, he'll let them go.

Area Female Athlete:
Congratulations to Kendal for being named Area Female Athlete by the Brainerd Dispatch!  Read the article HERE.

State T-Shirts

The State Nordic Ski t-shirts will go on sale tomorrow!

     Short sleeved -- $12
     Long sleeved -- $15

The front of the shirt is pictured below and the skiers names will be on the back.  Heather gray shirts with white lettering.

There are a limited number of shirts available, on a first come, first serve basis.  See Gloria in the Activities Office at the High School.

Section 8 Meet Results and Photos


SkinnySki's Section 8 Results:
Racing on the trails at Maplelag, the NW and central teams of Minnesota squared off in the Section 8 championships Tuesday. Kendal Hendrick collected the girls title and helped led the way for her team as Little Falls placed five skiers in the top 7 for the team title. St. Cloud Cathdral-Sartell was second, besting Bemidji by 4 points. Hunter Zupko, Little Falls and Robb Pike, Brainerd, had another tight match with Zupko holding Pike by 5 seconds for the boys title. The Brainerd and Bemidji boys both advanced to State.
